Breathe new life into your old magazines: create ideas your kids will love

If your house is anything like ours, you probably have a whole bunch of old magazines lying around in different rooms. If you don’t feel like recycling them or haven’t had time to donate them to your child’s school, why not get the kids together and spend the day using old magazines to make reusable crafts?

Below are some creative ideas:

Make a bowl/vase

This is a very simple DIY idea – all you need is a magazine and a glue gun. Tear single pages and fold them into vertical strips. Start by making a base, then glue strips lightly on top of each other until a bowl shape is formed.

make beads

Cut out smaller shapes from a magazine (like a triangle, circle, or square), cover all but one edge with a thin strip of glue, then roll them into little balls/tubes. It’s a good idea to use a thin object, like a pencil or toothpick, in the middle to achieve an even size/shape. You can then combine them into necklaces, decorations, etc.

Make a collage picture frame

Makes a great gift for a friend or loved one, especially if you cut out words/pictures that have special meaning. You can also make a collage on any other object you can think of, the options are endless.

Make a Woven Magazine Bag

This craft idea is our favorite – you can make your own personalized purse, using just an old magazine, clear tape, Velcro and scissors.
