Former Westmont resident to host online poetry workshop
Author / poet Tom Catalano will host a live workshop, âPoetry: How and Why,â as part of the Inkwell Writers’ Group Monthly Reunion.
The online meeting with Catalano as a guest speaker will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday February 1 via Zoom. Anyone interested in writing and learning more about how to become a poet is encouraged to attend this free presentation.
The former Westmont resident is the author of eight books of poetry, two short stories and one witty quote book. He has written over 2,000 poems and sold over 7,000 copies of his books. During the workshop, Catalano will read humorous and touching excerpts from his poetry books and discuss his inspiration and motivation. The author will dispel the popular misconception that poetry is long, sad, or difficult to understand. It will also explain why writing poetry is important and how to get started.
Catalano’s rhyming poems take a light look at everyday events that adults can relate to, such as being in an elevator with someone wearing too much cologne, the trauma of having dreams of work, vacations gone bad, vacation celebrations and the challenges of being a writer. His sentimental poems are heartwarming reflections of people, places and events. His poems have appeared in newspapers and magazines across the country and in Canada.
Catalano has read his work at over two hundred bookstores, libraries and community events across the country. He currently resides in Crossville, Tenn. You can find more information about Tom Catalano or his books on his website: tomcatalan.com.
